Connective tissue allograft vs scaffold terminology

Clarify allograft and scaffold terminology so clinic documents stay consistent with labels.

Reviewed 2026-10-27

Allograft as an identity term

Allograft generally means tissue from a human donor for use in another human. Record the supplier's exact term.

Do not add stem cell as a synonym in purchasing or advertising language.

Scaffold and matrix language

Scaffold or matrix language usually emphasizes structural tissue components. It is still not an outcome claim.

Pick the label term and use it in POs, inventory, and staff training.

Keep file language consistent

Confirm tissue type on the label. Do not treat amniotic and Wharton's jelly SKUs as interchangeable because both are perinatal.

Keep separate vendor files per tissue type.

Operational checklist for connective tissue allograft scaffold

Before ordering under the topic connective tissue allograft scaffold, confirm storage class, receiving owner, and which documents will be required at release.

Close open items in writing. Do not infer missing COA fields from a different lot or SKU.
